About my Assistants

Tatsumake (it means tornado in Japanese and no, I didn't name him) AKA "Tatsu" AKA "Taz" AKA "Big Boy" AKA "Is that cat part raccoon?" is in charge of paperweighting and maintaining a clutter-free work area. He accomplishes this by frequently knocking pens, pencils, notebooks, post-its, flash drives, and other 'irrelevant' items onto the floor. He has a fondness for licking things, including (but not limited to) laptops, cell phones, cicadas, dirty dishes, and hot lightbulbs.

Mufasa AKA "Moo Moo" AKA "Moo Shu" AKA "Moo Shu Pork" AKA "Sleek" is responsible for chair warming and random outbursts of gutteral wailing (though I contribute my own howling occasionally, especially during revisions.) He enjoys ingesting inappropriate items, including (but not limited to) Doritos, dust bunnies, ziplock bags, packing tape and a frighteningly large corner of my shower curtain.

  1. They are so cute!!! Though you may want to keep the ziplock bags away. Our cat ate the lock of one of them and had a hard time erm digesting it. :(

  2. Believe me, I TRY to keep all plastic away, but Mufasa is so good at sniffing it out. He nosed his way into the cabinet below the sink while I was sleeping and ate the handles off of my recycled plastic lunch sack once. I blame it on the fact he's a boy and all boys are clueless :)

  3. My cat loves to eat plastic. Also; dental floss. For a while we had tied the remote for the TV to dental floss so it would be easier to find (we loose it a lot . . .) and my cat swallowed something like two feet of it. We pulled it out of her mouth and it just kept coming. (The remote is no longer tied to floss, we just continue to loose it.) So cute! I love the pictures. : ]

  4. Thanks! OMG if my kitty ate dental floss I would just have to have bad gums. I swear I caught him eating insulation from a crawlspace once. Isn't that made of glass??

We had girl cats when I lived at home and they never ate crazy stuff!

    1. True that, Nik. I mean isn't a Y chromosome just an X that got messed up somewhere along the way? :)

    1. The only thing mine spread around the house is hair, and lots of it :)

You know, I love it when anyone expresses an interest in Venom, but I especially love it when news of the book reaches such exotic, foreign lands. Are you really currently in Bangladesh? (per your GR)

    2. Yes!Lol!The country's really small but has a huge population. In fact,it's the ninth most populated country in the world. It's okay to live in except the usual traffic, and it's lack of YA novel bookstores.Luckily for me,my dad goes abroad alot on business trips so I order my books then. :)

  7. I clicked on the 'My Assistants' page expecting it to be links to people who've helped you out - only to find photos of cats. Now I'm sat here with a massive grin on my face, thank you! xD

    1. Yay for crazy cat lovers :) No help from these two, unless you include the occasional string of qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq they sometimes add to the manuscripts when I'm not looking.

  8. I know this is a peculiar question Ms.Paul but what type of cat does Cass have in the Eternal Rose series.

    1. Slipper is just your average stray cat--no special breed. I might have modeled some of the silly things he does after my kitties though :)

  9. Omgggg... I love your kitties. I am really new to your Website and I wanted to find out if you were going to publish any new books anytime soon. I am really obsessed with your eternal rose series (in a good way of course)... if you are not can you please recommend me some good reads like yours. Thank you sooo much!

    1. Hi Unk :)

I don't really post here anymore. I have three other books out, a fourth releasing in August, and three more coming next year. They're all over here:
      http://www.authorpaulastokes.com/p/the-books.html

I will probably not be writing as Fiona Paul anymore or doing more historical books, but if you enjoyed the dark and twisty mystery elements, you might try Vicarious, or if you enjoyed the romance, try The Art of Lainey.

      Thanks :)
